About the Competition

The Ethiopian Brain Bee is Ethiopia’s premier national neuroscience competition geared towards high school students in Gr 9 – 12 in Ethiopia. The Ethiopian BrainBee is apart of the International Brain Bee such that all National Brain Bee winners will compete for the International BrainBee Championship.

Round 1 is an online quiz open nationwide with multiple choice and short answers, patient diagnosis, and neuroanatomy/neurohistology. Round 2, the top three scorers advance to a live final showdown. The champion earns the chance to represent Ethiopia at the International BrainBee. Respective dates will be announced.

What is International BrainBee (IBB) ?

The International Brain Bee (IBB) is the world’s leading neuroscience competition for students aged 13–19, founded in 1998 by Dr. Norbert Myslinski to spark curiosity about the brain and encourage careers in brain research and medicine. Students first compete in local “Brain Bees,” advance to national championships, and top winners represent their countries at the annual IBB World Championship, typically held alongside major scientific conferences. Today the IBB network spans nearly 50 countries and is run by a global non-profit in partnership with universities, hospitals, and science organizations.
